| My name is Mark Lucas of Lumberton, North Carolina. I began exhibiting dogs in 4-H when I was 12-years-old and became involved with showing Shetland Sheepdogs and Collies. I was hooked! I bought my first Italian Greyhound a few years later – he and I enjoyed becoming a multi-group winning team. His name was Ch. Uwharrie's Solar Flare, and he was the foundation male to my breeding program. Since my beginnings over 28 years ago, I have bred many champions including Specialty, National specialty, and Best In Show winners. I have been judging since the late 1990’s, and I am approved to judge the Toy Group, Shetland Sheepdogs, Collies, Australian Shepherds, Poodles, Xoloitzcuintli, French Bulldogs, Whippets, and most recently been approved to judge Best In Show. I am in the process of applying for more breeds in the non-sporting group. I have had the honor of judging the Italian Greyhound National Specialty as well as several regional specialties in many of my approved breeds. |
